#Keeps your hands off eizouken series
I am admittedly not a fan of slice of life series centered around school clubs you will never catch me enjoying K-On! and the like because as charming as they appear, they also put me to sleep. It’s more of what Ōwara the creator does to make it compelling: the creating of anime.
Shoot, why wouldn’t the guy that made ping pong look insane put his cents into this, like come on?īut Yuasa’s and Science Saru’s touch on the anime isn’t what drew me to this, to be honest.
You see Lu Over the Wall, Tatami Galaxy, and Night is Short, you probably understand why Eizouken possesses the charm that it has. Yuasa is similar to Kon where most of his works revolve around making reality malleable and letting the character’s imaginations paint the world differently, all while Yuasa goes a step beyond by making things less grounded from the getgo.
After seeing enough of their works, it’s like leaving a memorable signature in your mind where you can tell how each director tends to do things. If it isn’t Takeshi Koike, Balak, Teruki Tsutomu, or the late Satoshi Kon, Maasaki Yuasa is one of my favorite directors if we’re talking animation that exceeds the standard you probably have.
